ABOUT MALLORCA

Mallorca is an island full of magic nooks and crannies from which you can view a landscape which is dominated by the sea and the mountains. These viewpoints give you a perspective in which the passage of time appears to have disappeared, as if you were looking at a postcard. Most of these places have been shaped by the striking geography of cliffs which have formed over the passing of time. It is common practice to visit some of these locations to watch the spectacular sunsets over the Mediterranean Sea.

Starting with the most northerly part of the island, in the municipality of Pollença you will find the Creueta and Colomer viewpoint. Situated on the Formentor peninsula at 200 metres above sea level, it offers magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Tramuntana Mountains. From the Creueta viewpoint, you can see the islet of Colomer, which has been the star of many works of art by many important painters.

Following the Serra de Tramuntana, in Sóller you will find two of the most enchanting corners of the island. One of these is the viewpoint of Santa Catalina, situated right in the Port of Sóller at the foot of the Museum of the Sea and the Hermitage of Santa Catalina of Alejandría. It has picturesque views of a landscape that is well worth stopping for, simply to observe what nature has gifted us. Alternatively, you could take advantage of your visit to the viewpoint of Ses Barques and take a trip along the Costa d’en Flassada or along the Costa de en Nicó towards Fornalutx. From here, you will see some of the best scenery in the Port of Sóller.

And we must not forget the viewpoint of Sa Foradada between the town of Deià and the Caló de s’Estaca which boasts one of the best sunsets on the whole island. It is characterised by one of those geographical accidents on the island that draw our attention due to their curious “holey” rock formations. Some say that these were caused by a cannon shot from a battle which took place between the North-African corsairs and the Christians in 1582.
