Throughout the year, numerous themed fairs take place throughout the island, where the various vendors and store owners promote traditional products from Mallorca. Although their dates are not always fixed, but depend on other events, the fairs which we suggest below usually take place just before or during spring.
The Cuttlefish & Nautical Fair is one of the thematic fairs par excellence throughout the island, not only because of the gastronomy which is offered, but also because of the nautical exhibition. It is celebrated in the Maritime Walk of the Port of Alcúdia during a weekend in which different activities and events take place which will allow visitors to enter the maritime world of this municipality: from boat demonstrations, exhibitions and nautical workshops, to gastronomic samples, festivals and children's activities.
Close to the previous ones is the Wine Fair, held at the Cloister of Santo Domingo de Pollença. After sixteen editions, it opens its doors to a large selection of the island's wineries, where visitors, after paying an entrance fee of €12, will be able to taste a sample of their wines and, if they wish, to buy them. Among the Majorcan wineries are: Macià Batle, Can Axartell, Can Sa Padrina, Mortitx, Binigrau, among many others. It takes place over a weekend and, as a novelty, this year has included the twinning with the Falset Fair in Tarragona.
In the first weekend of June, the Shoes and Crafts Fair takes place in the town of Lloseta. With the aim of paying tribute to the great traditional shoe industry of the town, artisans exhibit both shoes and crafts in this show. The activities extend beyond the weekend with numerous events such as folk dances, craft workshops, sports exhibitions, as well as concerts and exhibitions also taking place.
Finally, in Sa Pobla we find the Night Fair of the Potato, also at the beginning of June. The potato is the centre of agriculture and a good part of the town's economy depends on it. That is why this celebration takes place. There are many events which take place during this weekend. On the one hand, a diverse gastronomic sample where the main ingredient is the potato, from numerous beach bars which will be in charge of preparing plates and tapas for the visitors to taste. On the other hand, the town is also livened up with festivals and concerts.
