We could speak of Mallorca as an island with a lot of variety: it has large sandy beaches, where you can spend a summer's day with your family, but it also has more hidden virgin coves which, perhaps, are more difficult to access and where, with a bit of luck, you could be the only visitor.
Mallorca, and the Balearic Islands as a whole, are known throughout the world for their crystal-clear waters. In this vein, looking for comfort and easy access, we find the Formentor Beach, located about 10 km from the Port of Pollença. It is ideal for small children or elderly people, since it is perfectly accessible by vehicle and its long stretch of white sand and transparent waters makes it very comfortable for families. If you're looking for a calmer and more intimate cove, for those who prefer a hike, very close to the previous one is Cala Figuera. To get there, once the bus has left, you’ll have to walk about 30 minutes to get to the sea. In both cases, we recommend that you check the bus schedule, since, in order to avoid the saturation of private vehicles, traffic has been restricted and shuttle buses have been made available at fixed times.
Towards the neighbouring town, in Alcúdia there is the Coll Baix. It is perfect for those who are more adventurous, since to get there, you can either walk from Alcúdia (about 12 km), or make part of the journey by car and then go down to the beach on an unpaved road for about 30 minutes. Of similar characteristics and harder to access, in Escorca we find Sa Calobra. Although it is also easily accessible by car, it is recommended to reach it once the Torrent de Pareis excursion has been completed (with a medium-high difficulty level).
If, on the other hand, if what you are looking for is an authentic paradise of blue waters, the beach you are looking for is Es Trenc, located in the municipality of Campos. It is one of the best-known, but also one of the most-visited in the summer months. Even so, its great length of 2,640 metres, along with the reduction which has been applied to vehicles which can directly access it, make it one of the most spectacular of the islands.
